Fosterra attended the Sustainable Supply Chain Exhibition in Birmingham, UK and President Ben Foster presented best practices to a record number of attendees. The event was was both inspiring and reassuring to see the high level of interest and commitment by industry leaders. Here are our key takeaways:

1. There is high interest in getting sustainability “right” rather than just doing the minimum, which demonstrates the growing commitment to excellence across industries.

2. Strategy is key: companies must develop robust strategies to meet evolving requirements from regulators and customers and coordinate efforts across multiple fronts for effectiveness.

3. Beyond logistics: while transportation optimization is essential and there were some great solution providers at the event, there is a crucial role for engaging suppliers directly in sustainable practices.

4. Emerging mandatory requirements: thousands of companies that have not fully embraced carbon reduction planning are going to be subject to regulatory filings within the next three years and are trying to catch-up with their industry peers.
